alright then.. i am redoing my entire home entertainment setup this year so i need some advice... i am torn between the PS3 or the XBOX360... i have my tv picked out for black friday(friday after thanksgiving in the us which has insane deals) as well as my home theater system on order... so all i need now is the console since my htpc is on hold until next summer or christmas....
i like the ps3 due to the dynasty warriors and UT2007 release and how uber sexy graphics look on the ps3... then again i have been playing halo 3 on the xbox and must say that they are absolutely amazing... so i need advice from people who have either played both or done extensive research... i get mixed opinions on both sides about the game issues for ps3 as well as some xbox issues....
i know ps3 will be releasing new games soon in the future so i am not worried about that... also the online feature for the ps3 is free which is another added bonus...
xbox has halo and gears of war while ps3 as the metal gear and dynasty warriors and some others.... so what do you say guys... should i look at a 360 or a ps3?????

damn boy for being poor you sure have alot of cash for extra's
you realise you are wasting alot of cash
axe tv get a tv tuner card for your pc
axe soundsystem , get a pro soundcard and some nice speakers
forget htpc you already made yourself one
to get to the question .
i have bought a xbox years ago but although i like the controllers more then those of the ps i am not considering to get a 360
the error and broken hardware i ve come across on xbox 360 is huge .seriously talk about a rushed machine . i am waiting for the ps3 to drop in price and for some more games to be released for it .
Y?
most of my rl friends have playstations so i could borrow their games and hope the backward compatibility is good enough for the 3
its more recent and doesnt needs also a hdtv to pump out sweet gfx
its more widely spread so i hope i can chip it faster and get more tweaked games
the online playing system is going to be better , from what i read so far
ofcourse i havent tested if the magazines aren't making things up but i sure know i will never get a 360 ( to more errors and i despise m$oft )
hate missing out on halo3 but more then likely i will get to play it on pc in a while .
yea thats what i am going for...
and dude if i had a desktop then i would do what you just said but my laptop is here right now and has all the nift extras except the tv tuner card... so i am kind of out of luck there...
but yea i have been saving up for awhile and definetly want to by myself something nice instead of shit... so i am pumped... and yea halo 3 will be out for pc so i will prob just play it then...
i do like the new dynasty warriors...

not much to add (beside being very slow response...) but gears of war is coming to pc soon.
also, as for ps1, pc emulators are good enough to play them just fine on pc (by using regular ps game cd on cd drive), but for ps2 games, its not working yet, so u need ps2/3 to play it and ps3 doesnt have 100% compatibility for all ps2 games either last time i heard.
and in japan (dunno for rest of the world) but nitendo (wii+that mobile game device i forgot the name of) pwned the hell out of sony (mobile device) (ps3 and their mobile game device which once again i forgot the name of...) (wow i found a cool site...) and obviously ms product came on third.
but i'd say nintendo won by targetting on casual and light gamers that spread more equally, so i doubt that means that they have great games for heavy gamers, so i guess what tank said about wii being behind is prolly right in terms of coolness of games.
Cheaper than PS3, awesome games, more established, control pad is great, Supports HDtv
Live is not free but cheap nonetheless (one off annual fee of 30 quid), 360 has been dogged by launch issues but largely they are sorted now, it has been a year since release after all.
PS3: Not long come out so is something of a cash cow at the moment, still expensive even though they just had a price drop. Games are mainly 360 old releases, with a few PS exlcusives in there. Graphics are supposed to be nice but to be honest there is very little difference between the two.
360 wins on some games by a hair, the PS3 wins on other games by a hair.
At this point you shouldn't consider choosing between these two based on graphics alone. Decide on the games your going to play, UT3 is coming out for both consoles and will imho be better on the 360 but this is just a guess.
The PS3 has little to offer over the 360 apart from one thing - the Blu-Ray drive. As far as I know the 360 doesn't have bluray and you have to pay extra for a hd drive that sits outside the 360, not in it.
So my opinion goes thus: If you want a gaming console get the 360, if you want something to compliment your home theater system then get the PS3.

Compatability isn't 100%
360 doesn't NEED an HDtv to pump out sweet gfx, in some cases games look worse in HDtv.
I doubt the online system will be any better than Live might not be worse but won't be better. Online play for consoles suck because they are designed for consoles (if you get me)
yea well my main thing is that i am going to be using some of my old ps2 games as well... and there are a couple of games that i like for the ps3 that are amazing as well... i still dunno though the only reason i would get the 360 is for halo 3.... the 360 is going for FPS but i think the ps3 is a better multiround controller for sports and ect....
