here is the exact message
There are too many identical e-mails in appointed time
my task manager is was screwed up where i could not check out all the different options with that....
well yea soooo.... its all better now... i am really happy that its all better...
while i am on the subject do you guys know of any better free anti virus programs that are available at the moment????

as much as anti virus app helps u in some cases... its almost certainly the user's action, that triggers virus execution, so u better watch out warez, porn etc stuff on the net, coz they're the main reason people catch viruses. there can be files in a zip which has an icon of folder but its an executable to trick user into double clicking it :D ...
for other reasons, when there are dumb colleagues who has no idea of what a comp is but uses ms office and keeps passing virus along with their documents, in that case, u will be caught using those files, so, u better keep a good anti virus.
in my case, when i dont exchange viral ms files with clueless colleagues, i dont even have an anti virus for over 5 years, and not a single virus if u know what u're doing, but of course, i suggest u have one if u feel unsafe.
avast antivirus - This is prolly one of the most used free anti virus. my family uses it too.
AVG antivirus - This is also a popular free choice, family used to use this, didnt have much reason when we changed it.
Clamwin antivirus - This uses the popular antivirus engine in unix world called clamav as the backend, but since this aint got on access scan, its not as good as the above 2.
if u felt u didnt use enough money on christmas, then u could also choose to use those symantic and trendmicro ones. i have least experience with those ones, so dont know how good they're compared to the rest.
also, about firewall, its certainly good to keep it tight when u use ur comp in public network often, like in school network, coz otherwise people might be peeking through ur shared folder..., which is being too generous to hand out all ur music/movie/porn schoolwide.
but then again, dont forget firewall is usually the protection on top of general security measures. so, u just update ur apps often, especially the Winblows itself, coz even if ur firewall is as tight as it can be, once some exploit enables admin priviledge, ur firewall suddenly becomes doors without keys. and in Windows, firewall only usually holds incoming connection, and that is only for protection against apps that accepts incoming connection carelessly...though it does hold connection from inserted backdoor trojan from working, but u're already one step too late when u figure that out...
well avast has a firewall if i remember correctly... for a firewall i usually use zone alarm....
but as for the virus problem... what happened was it came through limewire while i was downloading something... thats how it got in... tricky little bugger.... well i guess then avast was a decent one so i will go back to that one....
should i bother installing a firewall from your opinion... i want to but not if its gonna be a pain in the ass and i am going to have to configure it for it not to work properly =p

I never thought avast had a firewall...
though it does check virus not just on on-access scan but when sending email and all that.
but then again winxp has its own firewall, so its as pain as installing winxp to have a firewall on ur machine, which to some extent, is a pain.
but check ur control panel for ur firewall... that should at least protect... dont know what it protects but, make u feel better that u have a firewall
frankly, in corporate environments and production areas, many hazards are caused by human mistakes... so, take care of that first, there are many noobs out there with noob amount of free time trying to figure how to trick u. phishing... virus mails... malicious web pages... and comps never stop u from clicking an .exe file.
