I never really got into this game but I would love to set something up for the benefit of Tank0. I know there are a few who have this game so post up and lets give Tank a night on this game he'll never forget!!

Think of it as saying Thank You for his hard work over the years.

Company of Heroes only, I don't have the expansion and it isn't on my shopping list.

I would like Tank to set a date for this as this one will be the next ''Game Night'' and it's centred around Tank as a thanks for his hard work over the years.

problem is i had to replace my 3d card with a lesser model ( money's is such a bummer ain't it )

i ll reinstall it but i fear i will cause lag in a multi

I'm thinking the 14th August (Friday) That's almost 2 weeks. More than enough time to download all the patches....

The main reason I stopped playing CoH was that I couldn't get one of the later patches working the end result being to re-install the game. I will try again over the next few weeks, if you avoid dates around Aug 18 - 22nd I should be able to join you.

looks like you can do the update in two patches v1.0 to v.1.40 then v1.40 to v2.101, thats a whopping 2GB of patches btw.

Finally got CoH installed and patched, its taken like 2 days!

I was wrong about just needing two patches, you then download another three automatic updates before installing the Relic downloader which proceeds to download another four (one of which is massive).

Crazy I reckon all together the patches are getting on for 5GB, and at any point a failed or corrupted update may mean you having to reinstall CoH from scratch! What were Relic thinking....

Good lord, that's ridiculous.... I don't recall any other game needing such massive patches. 5 GB? that's practically a new game! I better get started....

I think it is because even when using the original CoH you can still play with other players having the extended units from Opposing Forces and Tales of Valor though you cannot use them yourself.

That accounts for the two major patches however when you install the big patches it actually reinstalls the game so if it goes wrong you are left with no game installed as it doesnt revert back to what you had before.

Right, I hadn't kept up with this but I am fully installed and ready to go for this evening.... The options we have go thus;

We play tonight as intended

or

We re-schedule for another evening

I can play CoH this evening, I usually join the London lobby but I will fire up Xfire and update the status i.e. playing or doing real life stuff.

I have played quite a few MP games since reloading so I am getting back into it, tbh I preffer human vs. cpu games just to avoid all the crap talk and dumb/dropping players. Expert AI is a real challenge now...

Looks like there will only be the two of us so I'm happy for Human vs AI, Expert will blow me away so I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Gonna set a new date for this so anyone else now has two weeks to install this game and patch it up.

Had fun with BBT last night but the evening was cut short, I would like to do it again though.

damn this makes me drool , i ll prob miss next date too but in september i maybe can free up enough cash to get me another gfx card .

I finally beat 3 x Expert AI with 3 human players on Seine River Docks (6P), that is one tough map.

The Expert AI gets almost a x2 bonus to all their resources and its a real shock sometimes when they throw it all at you especially when you think you are winning or in a strong position.

There are some really good new maps now Hochwalds Gap (8P), and when you learn a few tips is actually quite easy even against the Expert AI.

I am pleased I took the trouble to reload and patch CoH I had forgotten how good it is, I can see myself playing this more and I will use Xfire more to see if anyone wants to join in.

ok guys i am downloading the patches now , i can run it again and i have upgrade to a 6.4 Mbit internet connection so I am pretty sure i won't lag anymore .

if you want to do a comp stomp or friendly one on one give me a shout .

i ll be checking this thread every friday evening .

i will also buy the expansion pack and the sequel . it contains a new game style i want to give a try . coop play (4players) vs impossible odds and try to hold as long as you can . Since those mission are my favs in the original i am looking forward to digging in with a few TFL and see how we Rock.

ok sorry guys i missed the two first dates , my neck is totally stuck and i can only look to the right and above .

my son jumped me and i could hardly hold him from falling , this meant i used my neckmuscles in a odd way and i am now paying for becoming an ol fart .

i am making a map to keep me busy while i just lay here and pop painmeds .

just to go on record i still plan to make this a regular thing but for now my pain in the neck is a serious pain in the neck

I am still playing CoH since my reinstall a fair few weeks ago.

I must admitt when you start playing MP at around the lvl8+ mark the game changes totally as it becomes much more important as to who your friends and allies are. Typically what you find is that players above this level always play in groups its quite difficult to get a fair game going.
