The first installment of the STALKER didn't really get me far, as it was nice to see a mixture of RPG and FPS in one but that game had quite a bug (I wrote about this game on another thread before.) and hope this one is made to be more fun.
Graphics are all very intense for any modern games, it just needs fun associated with it. Porn is enough, if it is only for eye candies
(oh and hi =p yes im still alive at a place far far away from you people...)

Its been delayed until next Friday apparently, was supposed to be out this Friday.
I now have a sudden desire to hire an automatic weapon and roam around Pripyat:Ukraine with a hi factor sun screen.
I remember (showing my age now) on TV the news showing helicopters looking into the exposed reactor core of Chernobyl, and then to think the guys that shot the footage lived a few months as a result. Seriously scary stuff... Even now cos the reactor fuel has a half life of 100's if not 1000+ years the concrete tomb surronding it needs to last like the Pyramids ffs..
Even today there is a 214km exclusion zone there and you have to get military permission to enter, which includes instructions of how to use a gas mask.

Update
For those who don't know S:Clear Sky was released in Russia the other week and those who have reviewed the game in its current state are of mixed views about the game.
Normally you expect the odd harsh review for any game but there is a concerning consistency of poor opinions being aired, including it seems from modders of the original S:Shadow of Chernobyl.
Whats not clear is the reason for these comments, you might want to hold off a bit for some solid reviews before pre-ordering the game.

DVD arrived this morning, GSC have released a patch already and there is evidence about a 2nd patch coming very soon.
I think I'll muck about with the game using the 1st patch and dive into it properly when the 2nd patch is released.
Not sure what to expect after reading some quite harsh reviews...

Oh lol... looking at their poor technical skill on the first one, haven't they got to fix that yet? The screens do look awesome, but that alone doesn't tell much, it's just a wallpaper without knowning how the game runs. I guess I'm on hold with this one until BBT goes 'it was fun' (without putting 10 times more complaint).

My first impressions are that Clear Sky is more like the 88% game rating than the 7/10 rating.
- For me the game installed, patched and has run without a crash so far and thats on Vista x64.
- Played about 3 hours already found 2 artifacts so all that bollox about it being too difficult is just bollox considering I've not even played SoC.
- Performance wise this game runs like Crysis and needs optimising your gonna need a fast PC and GPU, you'll also need Vista to get the nice DX10 effects.
- Is it hard??? in a word yes but you learn, death can come quickly but there is usually a good reason. If you camp behind some crates for too long you will get a smack in the head from a grenade, so guess what don't camp in one spot for too long in a fire fight In Crysis and CoD4 you could get away with that style of gameplay if you were a good shot, not in Clear Sky....
Most importantly though is that the 2nd patch is due to coincide with the US release (about 2 weeks away), and it WILL ruin your save games so basically it means you have a sandbox game until then.
All in all there is an enjoyable game here, I think the harsh reviews are punishing GSC for a buggy and flawed release but I think they have played too much CoD4 and lost sight of what Clear Sky is about.
I've not played enough of it yet to rate it vs. BioShock, Crysis and CoD4 its different.

Here are some benchmarks:
http://www.pcgameshardware.com/ai...Sky_DX10_Benchmark_Review/?page=2
In summary you'll need an 8800 GTX just to get all the eye candy playable at 1024 x 768 until either the game devs and or GPU drivers are optimized.
On a seperate note I have experienced 2 x crash-to-desktop now.
On the plus side I find the game environment to be quite intoxicating, the lighting and weather cycles really bring it alive in a way Crysis wasn't. Playing the game as the sun is setting in real life while the sun is setting in game is just quite surreal.

Having played more of the game my opinion has shifted slightly.
To cut a long story short this is a great game surrounded by a barrier of bugs and problems some of them serious.
If you are not prepared to tolerate the faults then look elsewhere until they are sorted the 2nd patch v1.5.04 is not the cure.
