how to make movies 101

needed .

alot of free diskspace
fraps
virtualdub
jasc animation shop 3
mp3 -> wav converter
eaw

1. select a song you want to use
2.listen to the song write down when the different parts of the song end and/or start.especially total lenght.
3. convert from mp3 to wav ( enough freeware on the market )
4.start up fraps .
5.if the screen needs to show letters set the capture size on fullscreen otherwise set it to half size to save diskspace and dl time .
fps > 25 ( if you want grafic transitions you ll need a animator .25fps means they need to generate 25 shots for every second you want to animate ,
the higher the longer to render)
6.make a map . place all sorts of props near the base you want to destroy ,
if you want great footage of empire going down play as reb but make the map beautifull on empire side .
placing skirmish bases level 5 speeds up the process and helps the odds the ai actually build big capitals
7.play a skirmish vs hard ai's
8.press F9 to start recording movies.try to set up fraps that fps doesnt drop to much while recording or you ll end up with
slow motion movies .
9.if you selected a uptempo song make short movies otherwise slow mo comes in handy
10.open first movie in virtualdub .
11.view the movie and select the usable footage . press home to set start of selection press end to set end of selection .
you can use direction keys to scan image by image .
12.audio > no audio
13.video > full procession mode
14.video > compression > xvid 1.4 ( my personal fav ) ( saves lots of diskspace )
15.video > frame rate > 25FPS
16.video > filters (optional) > add

filters can be :
"resize" to help you resize the movie
"2:1 high resolution" is highly recommended for bigger movies
"logo" places logo on top .
you can download TFL logo here
so far i used 70% opacity and placed in left low corner
"rotate" and many more .

F9 toggles input screen F10 toggles output screen
the output screen is the result of all the filters you selected and video settings you set and will be saved that way .

17.set timeline at start and press on the button in the left low corner that looks like the play icon with a 0 below it ( play output )
18.check the end result before you save .

19.if you want to save the selection file > save segmented avi > give it a name that means something when you are editing

if you just want to cut some parts but keep the majority select the parts to be cut with home and end and then edit > delete
then you have to use file > save as AVI

20.DO NOT CLOSE virtualdub, file > close file , File > open next movie ( keep filter setting and such , very important all clips have same size and fps settings )
repeat untill all movies are prepared .

21.once you have cut away all the clutter you then have to go through the process of viewing all endproducts
and selecting enough material to fill the time of the song .

22.rename the movies you want to use in order the first movie 1 and so on .

no transitions :

23.close virtualdub and reopen it to reset all settings fast .
24.open the first movie in virtualdub .
25.audio > wav audio > select wav you made
26.video > full procession mode
27.video > compression > xvid 1.4
28.video > frame rate > 25FPS
29.video > filters (optional) > add
30 file > append video segment > select second movie
31 file > append video segment > select third movie
32. repeat untill finished
33. check output ( F5 or play 0 button )
34. File > save as AVI.

transitions :

23.go to last frame of first movie
24.video > copy output frame to clipboard
25.open up animator
26.edit > paste as new animation
27.go to first frame of second movie in virtualdub
28.video > copy output frame to clipboard
29.in animator right click on first frame > paste > after current frame .
30.right click on first frame > insert image transition
31.File > save as > select name example 1a , type avi
32.create new or overwrite existing AVI file
33.24 bits per pixel
34.compressor "Xvid mpger-4"
35.frames = 25
do this for all movies you want a transition for
36.close virtualdub and reopen it to reset all settings fast .
37.open the first movie in virtualdub .
38.audio > wav audio > select wav you made
39.video > full procession mode
40.video > compression > xvid 1.4
41.video > frame rate > 25FPS
42.video > filters (optional) > add
43 file > append video segment > select 1a transition movie
44 file > append video segment > select second movie
45 file > append video segment > select 2a transition movie
46. repeat untill finished
47. check output ( F5 or play 0 button )
48. File > save as AVI.
