Full Thrust

No it's not what I'm sure some of you were thinking -_-

For those of you who like the whole Space-Combat concept and have perhaps a little time and maybe money to spare I can highly recommend Full Thrust by Ground Zero Games.  It's a miniatures game which emulates space combat with all ships from corvettes to Superdreadnaughts.

If you go to their website
http://www.groundzerogames.net/in...option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

You can get rules for all their games for free, (Stargrunt is another very good one I've played, but will require more money as it's on land and there's terrain and more shizzle to buy)

They're not like super evil corp GamesWorkshop, as they don't charge stupid amounts of money and instead do things like giving you rules and catalogue to download free so you don't have to buy the publications.  They also have an online store where they sell models for their games*.  They are very reasonably priced when you compare to many other producers such as Forge world or Game workshop, and especially the new range space ships look fairly awesome to me :D.

Download the rules for free, get a black sheet and flick white and yellow paint over it to make your 'board', and test the game with something like cardboard.  If you like it you can order the models and paint them, if it takes your fancy.  There are loads of optional and advanced rules in the original rules and the supplements (also free to download) but just try the core rules from their basic rules for feel of the game.

Anyway, thought it might interest some of you, especially as we do like our Sci-fi games, especially space ones.

*They also sell random models which hold no relation to their games, such as their 'Gentleman's Collectibles'

Sick and wrong, but made me chuckle.

How long you been playin it fer?? The problem for me would be trying to find another person who also buy the stuff :S

Admittedly I've not been playing long, but there's always your brother, and almost every university in Britain has a society for this sort of stuff

Looks a bit like battlefield Gothic from the pics not played either but both look good.

From my university days table top games were much more popular than video games mainly due to the social element. I still have the complete and expanded games of Space Hulk & Space Crusade which in my opinion combines to make the best board game ever.
