Dawn of War 2 : BetaRegardless of whether you will actually buy DoW2, I would definately recommend you join the Beta for a few reasons:
- Its free, though you do need an activation key for Steam atm.
- It amazing just how much of the game they allow you to play. Yes its a MP beta but as I found out earlier there is nothing to stop you hosting a game and have the slots filled with AI opponents! So it is SP too though you cannot play the Campaign obviously.
- It plays like Company of Heroes except the maps and terrain appear more basic.

I never play Campaign anyway , so ill probably wont miss anything

Its kind of like eaw, you dont need to build buildings only units. Very micro intensive... and fun

For my money its a bit too hit and run micro for my tastes, as anyone who's played CoH with me b4 I'm a bridge lover because of the choke points forcing late game tech.
One of the reasons I like that style of play is because it takes the Real-time element to a new lvl, you can't sit on ur ass but equally well a early time critical decisons do not mean life or death. That type of gameplay shows skill, practice and experience but ultimately is a shallow and short lived reward for the victor. Great games are much more on the line of 'ok everyone is on an even footing here now lets fight!'
For that reason I'm looking to CoH:Tales of Valor and Diablo 3 and not DoW2, its not that DoW2 is a bad game I just know what I like as a player and CoH: Vere River Vally (4P) Multi-player is the closest gaming experience to perfection I have ever come across in over 20 years and to me the bar has been set for others to beat. Never has any other MP game demmanded such a range of focus, cunning and stamina and never has it been so rewarding to blow ur opponents off the back of the map!
If relic can introduce this gameplay into a space combat RTS we'll all be addicts for life. This is actually why HW3 may not be the best move i.e. start a new franchise and do it better...

I really wanted to play CoH , but it feels like even if loads of people play it , Ive kinda missed the boat.
