The Fallen Lords :: Strange Problem with Hw2 Framerate

I've just got my new PC up and running and installed Homeworld 2, but I have a strange problem with the framerate. When I'm in the sensors manager or zoomed out in the normal view, I've got max. 10FPS when rotaing the camera or scrolling around. But all ships move quite fluently. If I zoom in (e.g. when I have focused a collector), the whole game runs fluently - even rotating the camera but as soon as I zoom out again, the framerate drops again to <10fps.

Its the same with 800x600 and 1920x1200 and on both, Win XP Pro 32bit and Win Vista Business 64bit.

I just ran 3DMark05 to check if there is a problem with my grafics card, but the demo runs very nice and fluently. Anyone any idea what the problem might be?

I have the same problem, I'm betting it's a Vista issue.

Me too, aparently Vsync helps i.e. switching it on.

You have to remember that HW2 is getting on a bit now so the drivers are supporting a totally different rendering pipeline now.

Its actually quite facinating how it works I'll try to explain to anyone interested.

@bbt: I'll try switching vsync on and report how it works. :)

My one works.

Hw2 runs smoothly in 1920x1200 with 4xAA and 4xAF. Only the menus are a bit deformed.
