It would last about 1 second and I would also notice a drop in fps. It doesnt crash the pc but in an online game it does cause a desync.
Not sure if its heat related.
PSU is new. The same happens swapping out my x850 for my 9800
Another strange thing occured . the same brrrrrr type stutter happened alot when watching a movie on my laptop "brand new unrelated to my game rig and 100% legal etc" . but it was watching it through my external usb hardrive that had alot of files from my gaming rig. So that led me to think it might be a virus or a bugware that had hopped onto my external drive.
This led me to format my entire gaming drive . but i still get the brrrrr type stutter. Incidently i did use my external to load back drivers onto my gaming rig ..so if it is virus then it might have popped back.
atm im gonna do a full format and dl all drivers from internet to rule out possibility of some virus that may be lurking on my external.

re:PC stuttering.... its unlikely to be heat related as those problems tend to cause a system crash. Your saying it happens every 10-15mins like clockwork?

did u try running the game or movie straight from lappy's hard drive it could be that u have the external drive hooked up to a USB 1.1. and the hiccups happens when it trys to load the next part of the game or movie.
it could also be that something is scheduled to run every 15mins or so try checking the scheduler that windows come with.
u can also try updating the video and sound card drivers.
ok its not clockwork. It can happen every minute of listening to a song track or it might not happen at all. It does happen in graphical games. It seems to come on in bouts.
Ive had a theory that it keeps happening to my Pc but i cant detect it without sound playing in the background which leads me to the false assumption that it only happens when theres music or graphics going on.
During a "bout" , where the stutter was pretty much every 20 seconds when playing a music track , I would move my mouse backwards and fowards. Whenever the stutter happened my mouse would stop. Then flick to where it should be. So I could detect it with my mouse. I stopped the music and just moved the mouse by itself to see if I could detect the same stutter. Im not sure but im positive there was a "silent" stutter as my mouse froze a bit and then carried on.
Another clue is when I was shutting down my PC . This was after a long intesive stuttering game on the PC , the shutdown music was interrupted by ther same stuttering leading me to believe that it does happen all the time.
Now as for heat , my pc is rather cool when playing just music.
Ill swap out harddrive next as thats the only other thing i can think off.
If its your hard disk the Windows event log will say so.
open a command prompt and type 'chkdsk c: /F'
then reboot & allow the system to run check disk.
The other thing you should check is make sure no other devices share the same IRQ as your graphics card. These days ACPI & Windows manages IRQ's for you but on quite a few motherboard some of the PCI slots share the same IRQ as your AGP slot, which you want to avoid at all costs. You will need to check your MB manual to see if this is the case.

you could also go into the admin tools and run a disk check through there....
also have you checked your cd rom drive for that stuttering sound... sometimes that will kick on for no reason and cause the sound to happen.... happens to me at times... also for your prrr sounds check out to see if one of your ram chips went out or isnt operating correctly...
check out what proccess are running when you open up the music to see if any thing that is running looks odd =)
