I just found an article (in German) that sais, THQ has bought the trade mark "Homeworld" and that the original Relic developers are working for THQ. Maybe we really get a HW3 now!!!!!!!1111eleven
Though why they need to follow the Homeworld franchise is a bit strange, I would have thought it better to start from scratch and inject new ideas without the HW baggage whilst following the same basic gameplay.

Hate the fact they simply ignore some bugs and move on to new projects.
One thing they have done with Company of Heroes which should be of immense interest to a potential HW3 is use a new multiplayer solution which can replace dropped or kicked players with a CPU AI. Also kicking players is done on a vote system, unlike HW2 which only takes one lame player to boot another. You record games by default in CoH too meaning you can expect that sort of feature in HW3.
Finally the best bit is that alot of this stuff will have been tried and tested on CoH meaning less painful bugs for future Relic titles.

by reading some of the articles related on this matter, i read that sierra pushed the hell out of relic's schedule for hw2, so, if that is the case, you cant just start hating them from what you only saw and blame the guy right in front of you.
and even to just push out a patch, they have to first ask sierra if they can even make one, not just if the patch is good enough to be released. so... if they do the publishing as well (which isnt realistic), they would've done a better job patching and finishing with a bit more quality on the basic component of the game.
and you see how so many people only talk about single player campaign on the relic thread mentioned above, which those hw2 network bug/exploits does not matter to them. (means, sierra is satisfied the way it is than spend money to satisfy the rest of 1% player like us hard core hw2 abusers for almost nil return but some little cheering)
game design was fabulous. im sure devs just didnt want to 'ignore' the bugs and move on... they have their own reasons. if sierra said 'no' to yet another patch with just about 20 players online at once (which i wonder why not many play this online, but people say coz the game is difficult... but thats another topic), it means 'no' even all hw2 devs felt like fixing stuff.
hmm, i wonder if the hw IP transfer was just to make a hw mug cups :D
i dunno if the buzz is all about fan boy noise or something is really happening behind...
it prolly depends on what the deal was about. if vivendi went 'here, this is supposed to be ur IP, there u go', maybe nothing will happen, but if thq went 'hi, i want them back with a few bucks here, tx' then something should happen.
There are new rumors that Homeworld 3 is currently beign developed by THQ. THQ neither confirms nor denies these rumors. They only say: “We cannot tell you anything yet …”.
I think if they were not developing hw3, they’d clearly denied these rumors … :)
I have been followin the hw3 news for 2 years and from what i have read i am 90% sure there is hw3 and thats because:
1) relic is in development
2) the game was a great success so it bring lots and lots of money
3) the game have a huge fan base and relic won't let that go
There has been some news on this recently, considering THQ owns Relic and THQ bought the Homeworld rights off Vivendi I would say there is an excellent chance of HW3.
However I can't see much happening until after DoW2 and the new CoH is released, which means 2010+ at best

While it'll be a good joy to have yet another moment of tfl stomping , dorky, relic's parent company THQ got a hold of the trademark, so unless THQ says something, relic can't do a move. And unfortunate enough, hw2 wasn't as big a success we/relic hoped for and if u look at amount of online players from day 1, there are hardcore fans, but not that many compared to other major online games.
Relative to the entire game industry, it wasn't. Maybe hw2 has about 1/100th the amount of mods compared to hl2 or doom or quake or whatever. And look at number of online players. But if you mean, within our mind, yes it was a huge success And I do hope 3 would be as good, if it's coming, so I can have TFL for supper instead of snacks again.
